King Frederik and Queen Mary Arrived in Lithuania in Snowy Weather
The Royal Couple was received at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius by President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. The state visit focuses on defence preparedness and security.
In snowy weather, Their Majesties the King and Queen were received at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius by the President of Lithuania, His Excellency Gitanas Nausėda, and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. The reception marked the beginning of the state visit to Lithuania, which takes place at the invitation of the President.

The state visit has a particular focus on defence preparedness and security. Their Majesties will participate in visits to Lithuania's Home Guard and the voluntary defence force the Riflemen's Union, and will join the President at the opening of a business forum focusing on energy security and defence.

The state visit to Lithuania is the third in a series of state visits to the Baltic states following the visits to Latvia and Estonia. Denmark has strong historical ties to Lithuania and established diplomatic relations in 1921. Denmark never recognized the Soviet annexation, and in 1991, Denmark was among the first countries to re-establish diplomatic relations after independence from the Soviet Union.
