King Frederik and Queen Mary Open The Dome at ARoS

King Frederik and Queen Mary carried out the official opening of The Dome at the ARoS art museum in Aarhus, which houses a new light work by American artist James Turrell.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary attended the official opening of The Dome at the ARoS art museum in Aarhus on the evening of 19 June. The King carried out the ceremonial inauguration of the new extension.

The Dome is a new, dome-shaped space that houses the work "As Seen Below" by American artist James Turrell. The work is considered one of Turrell's most ambitious to date, and it belongs to a group of works the artist calls Skyspaces, in which an opening in the ceiling lets visitors experience the sky in interplay with the artist's lighting.

ARoS is one of northern Europe's largest art museums and is known for, among other things, the coloured rooftop installation "Your rainbow panorama" by Olafur Eliasson. The Dome adds to the museum's focus on large, experience-based works of art.
