Princess Charlène Starts The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco

Prince Albert and Princess Charlène attended the start of the third edition of The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco, a water bike challenge in support of the Princess's foundation.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended the start of the third edition of The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco, a water bike challenge organised by the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation. The starting point was Viareggio in Tuscany.

Seven teams of four elite athletes each competed in the nearly 24-hour challenge. The route covers 225 kilometres across the Mediterranean and passes through the Pelagos Sanctuary, the largest European protected area dedicated to the protection of marine mammals.

The participants were expected to arrive at Larvotto Beach in Monaco the following day, where the royal couple were to welcome and congratulate the teams.
