The Prince and Princess at the anniversary gala for the environmental foundation

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended the gala on Friday evening as the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation marked twenty years, at the Salle Garnier in Monte-Carlo. The foundation has supported more than 830 projects on climate, biodiversity and water resources since 2006.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended the gala marking the twentieth anniversary of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation on the evening of Friday 18 September. The event was held at the Salle Garnier at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

• Twenty years for the planet
The foundation was established in 2006 on the initiative of Prince Albert II. Since then it has worked around the world to preserve ecosystems and advance planetary health.
Its work centres on three main fields: climate change, biodiversity and water resources. The Mediterranean basin, the polar regions and the least developed countries have received particular attention. To date the foundation has supported more than 830 projects.

• Guests of honour and performances
The actors Monica Bellucci and Richard Gere were guests of honour at the anniversary gala, and a number of well known names were present.
Christina Aguilera, Plácido Domingo and Sister Sledge provided the musical performances through the evening. The dinner was created by the Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, and Simon de Pury led an auction of art, collectors' items and one-off experiences.

• About the Salle Garnier
The Salle Garnier is the opera house in Monte-Carlo, named after the architect Charles Garnier, who also designed the opera house in Paris.
