Crown Princess Victoria Celebrates Her 49th Birthday on Öland

On Tuesday 14 July, Crown Princess Victoria turned 49, and as always the day was celebrated on Öland, where the Swedish royal family spends the summer. The celebrations began at the summer residence Solliden Palace, where King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar greeted well-wishers.

The birthday girl shone in a floral organza dress from the Norwegian brand ByTiMo. Princess Madeleine wore a linen-and-silk shirt dress by Paul & Joe, while Princess Sofia had chosen a floral maxi dress from Andiata.

After the reception at Solliden, the family travelled by open horse-drawn carriage through Borgholm to the ruins of Borgholm Castle, where the annual Victoria Concert was held. There they were joined by Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill.

One of the highlights of the concert was the presentation of the Victoria Award, which this year went to cross-country skier Frida Karlsson. The award has been presented to Swedish athletes every year since 1979, in connection with the Crown Princess's birthday.
