The celebration of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia's 50th wedding anniversary began with a thanksgiving service, a luncheon at the Royal Palace and a public concert in Kungsträdgården.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia began the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary a few days before the actual date of 19 June. The day started with a thanksgiving service in the Royal Chapel, where "Sinfonia da Chiesa", the same piece played at their 1976 wedding, was performed.

Much of the Swedish royal family gathered to mark the anniversary.

The guests also included several foreign royals, among them King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway.

Later, a public concert was held in Kungsträdgården, described as a musical journey through 50 years of love.
