Crown Princess Victoria and Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard were on Wednesday received by Texas Governor Greg Abbott for a bilateral meeting in Austin. The meeting took place at the Governor's office in the Texas State Capitol, where they discussed the close relationship between Sweden and Texas, focusing on trade, innovation and technology.
The background for the visit is the inauguration of Sweden's new consulate general in Austin. The new consulate will strengthen the economic and cultural ties between Sweden and the rapidly growing technology region in Texas. In recent years, Austin has become one of the most important technology centres in the United States, and several Swedish companies have already established operations in the area.

As part of the programme, the Crown Princess and the Swedish delegation visited an innovation hub in Austin, where they saw how Swedish and American companies collaborate in green technology and sustainable development. The delegation also visited a music culture house in the city, which is known for its vibrant music scene and has earned the nickname "Live Music Capital of the World".
