King Harald V was King of Norway from 1991 until his death in 2026. He was born in 1937 as the first Norwegian prince born in Norway in 567 years. During World War II, he fled with his family to the USA. Harald had to fight for nine years to marry Sonja Haraldsen, who was not of royal descent. He is a passionate sailor and has participated in three Olympic Games. As king, he is beloved for his warm and inclusive speeches, particularly the speech about Norwegians being «girls who love girls, boys who love boys, and girls and boys who love each other».
