King Charles opened Parliament with the King's Speech
The King delivered his second State Opening of Parliament focusing on economic growth and green transition.
On November 12, 2025, King Charles III conducted the traditional State Opening of Parliament at the Palace of Westminster. This was the King's second State Opening since he ascended the throne in 2022, and the ceremony was carried out with full pageantry and tradition.
King Charles arrived at Westminster in the Irish State Coach, escorted by the Household Cavalry. Queen Camilla was at his side throughout the ceremony, dressed in an elegant white gown and wearing the diamond tiara that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.

In the King's Speech, which is traditionally written by the government, the King presented the government's legislative program for the coming year. The main focus was on economic growth, green transition and strengthening the healthcare system.

Among the most important legislative proposals was a new climate law to ensure that Britain meets its net-zero targets, as well as reforms to the planning system to enable the construction of more homes. The government also announced increased investments in the NHS.
King Charles, who has long been engaged in environmental issues, read out the government's climate ambitions with clear engagement. Observers noted that the King appeared to be in good health, nearly two years after his cancer diagnosis was announced.

Prince William was present in the House of Lords as an observer, in line with his increasing role in the royal family's official duties. The Prince of Wales has gradually taken on more state duties to support his father.
After the ceremony, the royal couple returned to Buckingham Palace, where they were greeted by crowds that had gathered to see the royal procession.
