Queen Máxima visits the police academy in Apeldoorn
Queen Máxima met police officers, managers and support staff at the Police Academy in Apeldoorn. The theme was the financial well-being of employees, a field where the police, with 67,000 staff, are one of the largest employers in the country.
Queen Máxima visited the Police Academy in Apeldoorn on Thursday. The theme of the working visit was the personal finances of people in work, and what employers can do for staff who are struggling with money.

The police in the Netherlands have more than 67,000 employees and are one of the country's largest employers. The force is a member of the Financially Healthy Netherlands Foundation (SFGN), of which the Queen is honorary chair.
The Queen has a background in economics herself. She took her degree in economics at the Catholic University of Argentina and worked for several years in banking in New York before moving to Europe.

• Round-table discussions
Together with Chief of Police Janny Knol, the Queen spoke with police officers, managers and support staff. HR directors from other organisations also took part.

• More large employers join in
At a meeting afterwards, representatives of other large employers that are also members of SFGN came along. Among them were Royal Schiphol Group, the Ministry of Defence and the healthcare provider Parnassia Groep.
