Queen Mette-Marit will not attend the State Opening of the Storting
The Queen has a respiratory infection and will stay at home when the 171st Storting is opened today. King Haakon and Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra will carry out the ceremony, which will be the King's first State Opening as reigning monarch.
Queen Mette-Marit will not take part when the Storting is formally opened on Friday 2 October at one o'clock. The reason is a respiratory infection, the Royal Court says.

It is the 171st Storting that is being opened. The ceremony is broadcast on NRK and on the Storting's web TV, and is also shown on a large screen on Eidsvolls plass outside the parliament building.
• The address read in Nynorsk
During the opening, the address on the state of the realm is read out. This year it is Minister of Transport Kamzy Gunaratnam who does so, and she reads it in Nynorsk.
