Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene took part in the U Cavagnëtu picnic at Princess Antoinette Park on Saturday, together with Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. It was the twins' first official engagement since going back to school. The tradition goes back to 1931.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene took part in the traditional U Cavagnëtu picnic at Princess Antoinette Park in Monaco on Saturday 19 September. With them were Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

• First engagement since going back to school

The twins went back to school about two weeks ago, and this was their first official engagement since the school year began.

• The picnic has been held since 1931

Monaco's city hall organises a Monegasque picnic every year, known as U Cavagnëtu, at Princess Antoinette Park. It is held in late August or early September and marks the end of the summer season.

The tradition goes back to 1931 and has become one of the fixed gatherings for the Monegasques. The princely family usually takes part.

• Folk dancing in the park
