Queen Camilla on Wednesday attended the opening day of the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse, where she met volunteers and presented the trophy for the day's feature race. The Queen is patron of the racecourse.

The rain poured over York at times, but it did nothing to dampen the mood. During the visit the Queen met several of the festival's unsung heroes: St John Ambulance volunteers, racecourse staff, representatives of local charities and jockey Joe Fanning.

Later in the day the Queen presented the trophy to the winner of the Juddmonte International Stakes, the festival's big feature race.
The Queen wore a blue dress by Anna Valentine and a bespoke navy hat by Philip Treacy. On her lapel she wore a butterfly brooch in diamonds and sapphires, originally given to Queen Elizabeth in 1977, alongside her Jockey Club patron's badge.
