The King in a Kilt at the Mey Highland Games

King Charles spent the weekend at the Mey Highland Games in Caithness, Scotland, where he has held the title of Chieftain since 2002, following his grandmother the Queen Mother.
Over the weekend, King Charles made his way to the Mey Highland Games in Caithness, in the far north of Scotland. Dressed in a kilt and with a walking stick in hand, the King followed the competitions from the tent, including the youngest participants in action in the Highland dancing.

The games celebrate the best of traditional Scottish sports, including heavy weight competitions, Highland dancing, track events, tug-of-war and junior athletics.

King Charles has a very special relationship with these particular games: since 2002 he has held the title of Chieftain of the Mey Highland Games, a role he took over from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, whose beloved summer home Castle of Mey lies close by.
