Prince William and Princess Catherine brought George, Charlotte and Louis to the netball semi-final between Australia and Jamaica in Glasgow, and the family met young athletes supported by SportsAid.

On Saturday 1 August, day nine of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the whole Wales family appeared in the stands: Prince William and Princess Catherine brought all three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to the netball semi-final between Australia and Jamaica at The Hydro.

Netball may be little known in Norway, but it is one of the truly big sports across the Commonwealth. The game resembles basketball: seven players per team score in a hoop without a backboard, but no one is allowed to dribble or run with the ball, it is all about quick passing. Australia and Jamaica are among the world's best teams, so the family were treated to a real heavyweight clash.

From their seats, the family of five followed the match closely, surrounded by athletes from the Scottish team.

During the visit, the family also met young athletes supported by the charity SportsAid, of which Princess Catherine has been Patron since 2013. Over the years, SportsAid has supported the careers of Sir Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Tom Daley, among others.
