Queen Sofía attended a conference at the Teatro Real in Madrid on Spain's contributions to the American Revolution, followed by the world premiere of the work Gálvez Fantasy.
On Monday 6 July, Queen Sofía attended a conference at the Teatro Real in Madrid on Bernardo de Gálvez and Francisco de Saavedra and their contributions to the American Revolution. The conference was part of the America&Spain250 initiative, marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.

Queen Sofía is Honorary President of the America&Spain250 activities, which highlight Spain's often overlooked role in the American War of Independence. Under King Charles III of Spain, the country gave extensive support to the Thirteen Colonies in their fight for independence.

After the conference, the Queen attended the world premiere of the musical work Gálvez Fantasy, dedicated to Bernardo de Gálvez, one of the key figures in Spain's support for the colonies.
