After their first state visit to the United States as King and Queen, King Charles and Queen Camilla sent a personal message thanking the American people for the warm welcome during the special anniversary year.

Following the conclusion of the historic state visit to the United States, King Charles and Queen Camilla sent a personal message to the American people.

"Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year. We leave a piece of our heart behind and take a little of yours back home with us. Until the next time... God Bless America," wrote the Royal Couple.

The message was signed "Charles R. & Camilla R."

The state visit marked the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence, and was the first British state visit to the United States since Queen Elizabeth II crossed the Atlantic in 2007.
