Royal Couple and Amalia Honour Olympic Medallists at Noordeinde
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia honoured the Olympic medallists during a reception at Noordeinde Palace. The Netherlands won a record number of gold medals at the Winter Olympics.
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia honoured the Olympic medallists on Tuesday afternoon during a reception at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. A traditional group photo was taken in front of the palace during the celebration.

Dozens of people had gathered behind the fence in front of Noordeinde to cheer on the Olympians. After the medallists had lined up on the palace steps, the Royal Couple and Princess Amalia also came outside. Amalia modestly positioned herself behind the athletes but was asked to come to the front to stand with her parents. The group was met with loud applause and singing from the public.

Earlier this month, the Royal Couple travelled to Italy with Amalia to cheer on Dutch athletes from the stands. The Olympians won a record number of gold medals, placing the Netherlands third in the medal standings – the highest finish ever for the Netherlands at the Winter Games.
