Princess Madeleine

Princess Madeleine is the youngest daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and holds the title Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland. She was born on 10 June 1982 at Drottningholm. In June 2013 she married the British-American businessman Christopher O'Neill at the Royal Chapel in Stockholm. The couple have three children: Princess Leonore, born in 2014, Prince Nicolas, born in 2015, and Princess Adrienne, born in 2018. The family lived outside Sweden for many years, first in New York, then in London and from 2018 in Florida. In March 2023 the court announced that they would move home, and in August that year the family settled in Stockholm, in an apartment at the Royal Stables. The children started Swedish school and preschool that autumn. The Princess works for the World Childhood Foundation, founded by her mother Queen Silvia in 1999. The foundation works against violence and sexual abuse of children, and Madeleine has been involved in efforts to prevent abuse online. In October 2019 the King decided that Madeleine's three children would no longer be members of the Royal House. They keep their titles as princess and prince with their own duchies, and they remain in the Swedish line of succession, but they have no official duties. Princess Madeleine herself is ninth in the line of succession.
