The Crown Prince Couple Celebrated Fredrikstad Library's 100th Anniversary
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited Fredrikstad Library on the occasion of the library's 100th anniversary. They learned about the library's history and participated in a story time with kindergarten children.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited Fredrikstad Library on the occasion of the library's 100th anniversary. They were greeted by flag-waving kindergarten children from the local area.

During the visit, the Crown Prince Couple learned about the library's long and rich history. The cultural school provided cultural performances, and together with kindergarten children from the local area, they participated in a story time.

Fredrikstad Library opened to the public in 1926. The journey there was long, and as early as 1917, King Haakon VII laid the foundation stone for the library. The trowel used at the foundation stone ceremony is still preserved.

The library is still widely used by the city's residents, and in 2025, lending set a new record.
