The day is marked on January 27 each year, the date of the liberation of prisoners from the largest concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, where at least 1.1 million people lost their lives during World War II. A total of 773 Jews were deported from Norway in 1942 and 1943. Only 35 of them survived.
