King Harald's condition is very serious, the Royal Palace announced on Thursday. Crown Prince Haakon and Queen Sonja have cancelled all their engagements, and the royal family has gathered at Rikshospitalet.
"His Majesty The King's condition is very serious." That is the message from the Royal Palace on Thursday morning. It marks a clear deterioration from Monday, when his condition was described as stable.

The 89-year-old King has been hospitalised at Rikshospitalet since Monday, August 17. The background is the treatment he has received for haemolytic anaemia in recent weeks, which caused fluid retention in his body. On Sunday the Palace announced that the King had also developed a bacterial infection in his blood, and that he was being treated with antibiotics.
Following Thursday's announcement, the royal family has gathered at Rikshospitalet.
Both Crown Prince Haakon and Queen Sonja have cancelled all their scheduled engagements. The Queen's visits to Rindal and Høylandet in Trøndelag in early September have been postponed, and the Crown Prince's visit to Færder National Park on August 31 has been cancelled.
Crown Prince Haakon is serving as regent and carrying out the King's constitutional duties. RoyMob is following the story.
