Prince William Visited Sustainable Technology and Supercomputer in Bristol
The Prince of Wales visited Earthshot Prize finalist Matter and the UK's most powerful supercomputer Isambard-AI in Bristol.
Prince William visited Bristol on January 22, 2026 to see the city's trailblazing achievements in sustainability and innovation.

William was introduced to Isambard-AI and learnt how the technology offers huge potential in fields such as robotics, big data, climate research and drug discovery. The supercomputer is able to achieve in one second what it would take the global population 80 years to come up with!
During the visit, Prince William also met Paralympic champion Emma Wiggs and spoke with scientists about the machine's capabilities.

Visit to Earthshot Prize Finalist
The Prince started the day with a visit to Matter, a 2025 Earthshot Prize finalist that he founded in 2020. The company develops innovative filtration technology designs to limit microplastics from entering the UK's waterways. At Matter, Prince William met CEO Adam Root and was shown how the company's filtration system works. The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious environmental award that celebrates and supports projects protecting the environment.

UK's Most Powerful Supercomputer
The Prince then visited the University of Bristol to see Isambard-AI, the UK's most powerful supercomputer, at Bristol's Science Park.
