Princess Ingrid Alexandra turns 22
The princess celebrates her birthday privately with family while home on holiday from her studies in Australia.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Princess Ingrid Alexandra turns 22. The birthday is being celebrated privately, the Royal Court announces.

The princess is currently home in Norway on summer holiday from her studies at the University of Sydney, where she began a Bachelor's degree in social sciences with a focus on international politics and political economy in August last year. This is her first birthday since moving to Australia.
In an interview with NRK in November, the princess said that few people recognize her in the Australian city. "I feel free as a student, I absolutely feel that I can be myself," she said.

Before departing for Australia, the princess completed 15 months of military service with the Engineer Battalion in Brigade North, which she finished in April 2025.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra is second in line to the Norwegian throne, after her father Crown Prince Haakon. She was born at Rikshospitalet in Oslo on January 21, 2004.
Shortly after the birthday celebration, new duties await. On Sunday, January 26, the princess travels to Finnmark for her first major solo engagement in Norway. She will visit Karasjok and Kirkenes from January 25-27, where she will spend time with a reindeer herding family on winter pasture and stay overnight on the tundra. She will also visit Karasjok school and the Sámi Parliament.
The Finnmark trip follows in her grandparents' footsteps – Crown Prince Harald and Crown Princess Sonja received traditional Sámi costumes as gifts when they visited Karasjok in 1969, nearly 57 years ago.
After the Finnmark visit, the princess will return to Australia to continue her studies at the University of Sydney.
