Prince Andrew stripped of titles and evicted from Royal Lodge
King Charles stripped his brother of the prince title and ordered him to leave Royal Lodge - the most dramatic split in the royal family since 1919.
In a historic decision, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal titles and must leave his home Royal Lodge in Windsor. He will henceforth be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
'Formal notice of termination of the lease has now been served, and he will move to alternative private accommodation,' stated the Palace announcement.

This is the most dramatic split in the British royal family since 1919, when one of Queen Victoria's grandchildren lost his duke title for having fought on the German side during World War I.

Andrew has been under intense pressure due to his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations from Virginia Giuffre. 'These sanctions are deemed necessary, despite his continued denial of the allegations against him,' the Palace stated.
King Charles used his royal prerogative to issue a 'letters patent' formally revoking his brother's titles. Andrew will move to a property on the Sandringham estate, which is privately owned by the monarch, so that no taxpayer money will be used for his housing.

Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, retain their titles. His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson was also demoted from Duchess of York.
Andrew remains eighth in line of succession to the throne - removing him from the line of succession requires parliamentary legislation.
