Crown Prince Impressed by Bergen Shipping Company's Green Vessel

Crown Prince Haakon visited the vessel 'Trans Sol' from Bergen shipping company Sea-Cargo during One Ocean Week. The ship has cut fuel consumption by 50 per cent.

Crown Prince Haakon walked from Håkon's Hall to Festningskaien in Bergen, greeting young people along the way, before boarding the vessel 'Trans Sol' from Bergen shipping company Sea-Cargo. The special ship arrived in Bergen for One Ocean Week, which fills Bergen city centre from 18 to 24 April.

The ship is equipped with three rotor sails, solar panels and battery capacity to reduce fuel consumption. 'Trans Sol' has cut fuel consumption by 50 per cent and now runs on half an engine, which impressed the Crown Prince.

The company's CEO, Ole Sævild, believes such ships are the future of shipping.
