Princess Mabel, born Mabel Wisse Smit, married Prince Friso in 2004. The marriage took place without parliamentary consent, and Friso therefore lost his right to the throne. Mabel has devoted her life to human rights work, including co-founding War Child Netherlands and driving Girls Not Brides, the global movement against child marriage. She was widowed in 2013, and has two daughters, Luana and Zaria.
