Crown Princess Mette-Marit Apologises for Epstein Contact
New documents from the US Department of Justice link Crown Princess Mette-Marit more closely to Jeffrey Epstein. The Palace confirms she stayed four days at his home in Florida.
On Friday, the US Department of Justice released large amounts of new documents from the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein. Among the names that appear repeatedly is Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who according to VG's review of the material is mentioned over a thousand times.

The Palace confirms to VG that the Crown Princess stayed four days at Epstein's home in Palm Beach, Florida in January 2013.
The Palace has previously claimed that contact between the Crown Princess and Epstein ended in 2013, but a new email shows contact in June 2014.
Communications Director Guri Varpe writes in an email to VG: "The last written contact occurred in January 2014. Unfortunately, we remembered the exact date incorrectly last time."
Email exchanges between the two show that Mette-Marit and Epstein sent each other birthday greetings, discussed book recommendations and exchanged compliments. In an email from November 2012, the Crown Princess reportedly wrote that Epstein made her smile because he "tickles her brain".
VG asked whether it is true that Jeffrey Epstein helped the Crown Princess get her teeth whitened. The Palace's Communications Director Guri Varpe replied: "Epstein recommended a dentist, but teeth whitening was not part of the treatment."

Crown Princess Mette-Marit tells VG: "I must take responsibility for not checking Epstein's background better. I deeply regret that. I showed poor judgment, and regret that I had any contact with Epstein at all. It is simply embarrassing."
