Peace talks in Oslo: King Haakon receives Zelenskyy at the Palace
King Haakon received Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in audience at the Royal Palace. Zelenskyy is in Oslo for talks on Ukraine with Jonas Gahr Støre, Finland's President Alexander Stubb and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
King Haakon received Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in audience at the Royal Palace on Tuesday. The King welcomed the President in the Bird Room.
Zelenskyy is in Oslo for talks on the situation in Ukraine. He himself asked Norway and Finland to organise the meeting, as part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is hosting, and Finland's President Alexander Stubb is taking part. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is also joining the talks.
Also meeting the Storting
In addition to the talks with Støre and Stubb, Zelenskyy will visit the Storting, the Norwegian parliament, where he will meet the President of the Storting and the parliamentary leaders. After the meeting, Zelenskyy, Stubb and Støre will hold a joint press conference.
Several visits to the Palace
Zelenskyy has been received in audience at the Royal Palace several times before. In 2025, Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, had an audience with the then Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The Ukrainian presidential couple also attended King Harald's funeral on 9 September this year.
