King Charles meets the energy industry in Peterhead and Aberdeen

King Charles visited Peterhead and Aberdeen on Monday, meeting the professionals, volunteers and young people working on the transition to clean energy. The King saw how North East Scotland is building on its long energy heritage.

North East Scotland has been the centre of British oil and gas for fifty years. During the visit the King saw how the region is building on that experience in the work towards a more sustainable energy supply.
• Apprentices and students
Among those the King met were apprentices and students acquiring the skills the industry will need in the years ahead. Behind them stood exhibitors describing the collaboration between schools and energy companies in the region.

• New technology
The King also met innovators developing new technologies and new infrastructure for the energy supply. The transition calls for both generation and the networks that carry and store the energy.

• Volunteer crews
The King also greeted volunteers from the RNLI, who crew the lifeboats along the coast.
