Queen Sonja Admitted to Rikshospitalet

Queen Sonja has been admitted to Rikshospitalet Hospital for examinations and observation. She had already been signed off sick with atrial fibrillation and heart failure.
Queen Sonja (88) was on Wednesday admitted to Rikshospitalet Hospital in Oslo with heart problems. The Royal House states that she has "atrial fibrillation and heart failure, and has been admitted for a few days for examinations and observation".
The Queen was already signed off sick because of heart issues. In January last year she had a pacemaker fitted following an earlier episode of atrial fibrillation.
King Harald (89) continues his county tour of Vestland as planned. He is carrying out the tour alone, as the Queen had to withdraw from the programme for health reasons.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre expressed his support in a comment: "I know many share my hope when I wish the Queen a swift recovery."
Heart specialist Dan Atar emphasised that the admission does not necessarily mean the condition is serious, but is rather about having expanded treatment options available at hospital.
