King Willem-Alexander opened the renewed Spinoza House in Rijnsburg, a museum dedicated to the life and ideas of philosopher Baruch Spinoza.
King Willem-Alexander opened the renewed Spinoza House in Rijnsburg, which showcases the life and ideas of philosopher Baruch Spinoza.
Spinoza moved into the house in 1661 and worked here on his major work Ethica, a philosophical work on God, nature, reason and emotions. In the Spinoza House, visitors can see authentic objects from the seventeenth century, including a wooden lens grinder that Spinoza used in his work, and the books he owned.

The King unveiled a memorial featuring Spinoza's seal, and spoke with volunteers, board members and organisations connected to Spinoza's philosophy.
